Many years ago, my aunt graciously presented me with my first beginner sewing machine. Following several years of crafting, I realized that I had stumbled upon an innate talent. These early years served as a conduit towards my ambition of owning and operating my own business, enabling me to share the art of sewing with others. Presently, with over 45 years of skills, my company, established in 1994, has granted me the privilege of showcasing my exceptional products. Over the years, I have engaged in a multitude of sewn crafts, including but not limited to, curtains, duvets, and bespoke suit jackets. However, my true passion lies in the creation of exquisite home décor pillows. I use a custom Pfaff Expression and Bernina serger for my designs, and each item is meticulously fashioned by hand, using only premium threads, zippers, and other such accoutrements. I often incorporate my personal collection of my custom and limited edition fabrics, rendering each product a unique treasure.
Qualifications by year:
1970 – Gifted my first sewing machine and began making small home items.
1978-1979 – Home decor class refined my skills.
1980-1982 – Lessons from a professional seamstress.
1983 – Purchased and built a sewing library to learn new techniques and started individual projects.
1993 – Vo-Technical College class on making professional tailored garments.
1994 – Assisted a Professional Interior Designer for custom work.
March 1995 – Became Lead Seamstress for 7 designers and Expressions Custom Furniture in Kirkland, WA.
March 1995 – Collaborated on select items for Street of Dreams.
April 1998 – Recommended by designers by Calico Corners.
May 2003 – Personal seamstress to former Expressions Custom Furniture designers.
2003 – Became personal seamstress for Charisma Designs.
November 2003 – Through Charisma Designs: Custom pieces for established venues in Redmond and Seattle, WA. Pillows made for professional sports player’s personal home. Pillows for well know rock musician. Custom work for Olympic figure skating champion. Seamstress for Charisma Designs personal store in Bellevue, WA. Custom cushions for tanning salons in the greater Seattle area.
May 2004 – Custom pieces for established home building corporation.
2011-2013 – Small custom jobs for friends, family, and private clients.
2012 – Began designing and making fragrance home goods.
2014 – Launched of Decorative Interiors website.
2015 – Started the Truly Beautiful subdivision of Decorative Interiors.
July 2020 – Renewal of the Decorative Interiors branding and reclamation of the Truly Beautiful subdivision.
